Manufactured Home For Sale

Golden West Green Living

In late 2010, Golden West Homes partnered with the City of Santa Monica and the award-winning prefab architecture firm, Marmol Radziner Prefab, to redesign 20 manufactured homes in Santa Monica's Mountain View Mobile Home Park.  The city owned neighborhood is part of an effort to provide green, affordable housing to Santa Monica's residents.

The Santa Monica Series has received continuous recognition in the industry, including the 2011 winner of the Manufactured Housing Institute and National Multi Housing Council Award for Best New Single Family Manufactured Housing Design and the 2012 Los Angeles Architectural Award of Excellence for Special Project Housing.

Golden West and Marmol Radziner Prefab utilized environmentally conscious construction methods, such as green technology and earth friendly materials, to create the Santa Monica Series.  Features of the homes include:  utilization of formaldehyde-free materials, marmoleum flooring in the kitchen and bath that feature natural, anti-bacterial linseed oil flooring, the use of composite decking material for decks and porches composed of 95% recycled materials, green screens along the outstretch of the homes that allow for vines to grow adding shade and beauty, and GE Energy Star rated appliances.  Optional home accessories include grid-connected solar panels, solar hot water as a supplement to a gas water heater, tankless hot water in place of a traditional gas heater, and an optional green box that includes a small kitchen garden planter, compost bin, and rain barrel tied into the porch.  Additionally the homes are all Energy Star rated, inspected and certified by a third party.

Golden West is currently entered into a new contract with the City of Santa Monica to produce an additional 54 replacement homes for the neighborhood.  "We are always pursuing projects of this nature or others to help offset the lack of our normal core business," said Golden West sales manager Rob Loomis.  Golden West currently has committed to three additional projects of a similar nature scheduled to begin this summer.
